Applying for Financial Aid Using the FAFSA

  • The FAFSA is abbreviated for Free Application for Federal Student Aid. This is the form you need to complete in your senior year to get any financial aid from the federal government to help pay for college. Colleges and universities use the FAFSA to determine which students get financial aid and how much. The FAFSA asks for information about you and your family's income, including tax returns. So, you will need your parent's help in gathering documentation to complete the FAFSA.

  • Only seniors can apply for the FAFSA beginning October 1, 2022. Certain colleges and universities have deadlines for completing their FAFSA. Be sure you know those deadlines, if any.

  • The college & career office got you! FAFSA help days are in the college & career room 23-106 every Thursday. You just need to bring the documentation required to complete the FAFSA and we will help you with the rest. 

  • Yes! Anything you discuss with your counselors is kept private! You will need to provide information such as your parents' tax forms, social security numbers, and other documents. The FAFSA form is a safe government form. If you or your parents have questions, you can email or call Dr. Jacobson.
