Message from Principal Long

Mr. Long PrincipalHello, Panther Families,

It’s hard to believe that we are only a few days away from Spring Break. The second semester always seems to move quickly as we focus on important milestones like state testing and graduation. As we head into these final months, we are excited to celebrate our seniors with a variety of upcoming events and want to share a few important updates to help you plan.

Prom 2026, themed “A Night Under the Stars,” will take place on Saturday, April 4, from 7–11 p.m. at Disney’s Boardwalk Resort. Tickets are currently on sale through myschoolbucks.com for $115 and include dinner. The final day to purchase tickets is Friday, March 27. Students wishing to bring a guest who does not attend Gateway must complete a permission slip and submit it to the Dean’s Office. Looking ahead, our annual Grad Night will be held on Friday, May 1, at Busch Gardens. While we had hoped to return to Universal, limited availability placed us on a waiting list, and we were not selected. We are, however, excited to return to Busch Gardens, where students have had a great experience in the past. Tickets are $145 and include a meal.

Yearbooks are also available for preorder through myschoolbucks.com for $75 until May 1, after which the price will increase to $90. In addition, we will host our annual Decision Day celebration on Wednesday, April 22, in the Performing Arts Center to honor our seniors and their post-graduation plans. Graduation itself is scheduled for Thursday, May 21, at 5:30 p.m. Caps and gowns have begun arriving, and distribution will take place shortly after Spring Break. Families who have not yet ordered should visit hjproud.com soon to ensure proper sizing, as the cost is $105.

Senior Award Night will be held on Thursday, May 7, with invitations going out in early April. The last day for seniors is Wednesday, May 13, with IB seniors finishing earlier on Friday, April 24. We will also celebrate our Senior Walkout on May 13 at the end of the school day.

Thank you for your continued support, and as always—Go Panthers!

Gateway High School is genuinely one of the best schools in Osceola. Our teachers actually teach to ensure that we pass and put an effort in making class fun. They actually care about how we’re feeling. When we’re down they’re at our sides asking if we’re ok. This is the first school we’re I walk in and receive a good morning and a hello from staff members and not just students. Gateway counselors have not only strived to make sure my schedule helps me and guarantees a good present and future. The environment with my peers is almost always positive. Gateway in general has been a no judgement zone, and everyone tends to just mesh well with each other.  - Logan F. Class of 2028

Being at Gateway Highschool is a great experience, like any school it has its pros and cons but one of the best things about it is the strong sense of community. A big reason for that is the teachers and staff, who constantly go out their way to make gateway a very welcoming place. They work very hard to make sure every student feels supported, safe, seen and heard. Academically it is also a great school, Gateway has a lot of amazing opportunities for students. From things such as honors, AP and IB classes, students are supported by teachers to do their best. They are also very willing to help every student in every way that they can. Overall gateway is a great place to go to not just because of the academics but also because of the positive and supportive community that makes it a great school. - Noelia O. Class of 2028
